yan Matsumoto has nearly two decades of experience in geothermal and business development in Hawai‘i, serving in various roles with Waikā Consulting’s parent company Innovations Development Group (IDG) starting in 2007. As President of Waikā since 2024, Ryan oversees Hawai‘i geothermal exploration initiatives under a DBEDT contract mandated by the Hawai‘i State Legislature.
Ryan previously served as the Project Manager for Kuilei Consulting, Inc., where he consulted on land and commercial real estate development for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) Kaka‘ako Makai parcels. He is the founder and Managing Director of Mats Pacific, LLC, a business development consultancy, and a co-founder of several Hawai‘i businesses including Artisan 21, LLC, and Eleven 17, LLC. He has also served in various management roles with companies in Honolulu and Seattle. Ryan holds bachelor’s degrees in business, finance, and international business from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and is a graduate of Punahou School.
